Tips Photography Canon Digital Photo Professional

Canon Digital Photo Professional

During my interaction with the customers while sitting through the EOS academy workshop where customers say that they are so excited to get their camera out and start clicking that they would completely ignore the software CD which came with it.

That's too bad because one of the programs that comes free with every digital camera in the CD which is an incredible powerful program is called as DPP or Digital Photo Professional.

You must be aware that there are quite a few software choices which are used to process the RAW file. The benefit of using the DPP is not that it comes for free with all Canon DSLR's but because no one knows the Canon file better than the Canon engineers who have designed it.

Processing your RAW pictures

After sorting through your images you will realize that the CR2 file cannot be viewed on your laptop without software. Although DPP will happily edit JPEG files you'll get the best results by working with RAW files.

Digital photo professional or DPP is an image organizing, editing and processing software. It can be used to adjust and process the RAW files CR2, jpeg and even TIFF files.

Some of the exciting features which including the advanced renaming function, cropping, elimination of dust particles, sharpness, adjusting the contrast correction, color correction , noise reduction and correcting the lens aberration just to name a few.

To access more of DPP's RAW processing tools, click on the 'Edit image' window icon and then click on the 'Tool palette' icon. In the Tool palette you'll find four tabs – RAW, RGB, NR/ALO and Lens – that will unleash a host of powerful image processing tools.

Trimming & Angel Adjustment

High Dynamic Range Tool

HDR command in DPP processes and combines three images to create an HDR composite allowing the fine-tuning of brightness, colour and details.

You can also select from different presets such as Art Standard, Art Vivid, Art Bold and Art Embossed

Compositing Tool

Digital Photo Professional's relatively new Compositing tool opens up some creative layering possibilities. After selecting your main image you can import a background shot and then use the Composite Method drop down menu to adjust the way the photos mix together (in a similar way to Photoshop's layer blending modes).

Output
Once you've organized your photographs and edited them to your satisfaction using DPP's collection of image processing tools then it's time to share them with colleagues or clients. You can export an edited RAW image as a JPEG or TIFF using the Convert and save command in the File menu
Keeping up to date and setting
At the time of writing the latest incarnation of Digital Photo Professional software is version 3.13.0, but it's well worth keeping DPP up to date. The latest version supports new Canon lenses and recognizes RAW format files from the more recent Canon EOS DSLR cameras. If you've got an older version of DPP already installed on your computer it's free to update it by going to our website www.canon.co.in
In conclusion
By using the Canon software you have the key to unlock the entire potential of your file and rest assured you will get the highest possible image quality.
The features and functions are almost identical whether you use Mac or windows.
